Freed is giving a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ma.utexas.edu\/users\/dafr\/M392C\/index.html\">course<\/a> on the subject this fall, and Hopkins is giving a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uni-math.gwdg.de\/andrej\/hopkins.html\">series of lectures<\/a> about TQFT in Gottingen this week. Also at the n-category cafe is an <a href=\"http:\/\/golem.ph.utexas.edu\/category\/2006\/10\/lauda_on_topological_field_the.html\">advertisemen<\/a>t by John Baez for the work of my new Columbia colleague <a href=\"http:\/\/www.math.columbia.edu\/~lauda\/\">Aaron Lauda<\/a> on TQFT, which I&#8217;ll second here.  For yet more on TQFT, see notes by Kevin Walker <a href=\"http:\/\/canyon23.net\/math\/tc.pdf\">here<\/a>, and the book by Bakalov and Kirillov, an early version of which is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.math.sunysb.edu\/%7Ekirillov\/tensor\/tensor.html\">on-line<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Last week in Paris there was a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lpthe.jussieu.fr\/sugra30\/\">conference<\/a> dedicated to Joel Scherk, celebrating 30 years of supergravity.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s an interesting interview with Alain Connes on the French TV network ARTE <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arte.tv\/fr\/connaissance-decouverte\/science\/Paroles_20de_20chercheur\/1350636.html\">here<\/a>.
