{"id":4751,"date":"2012-06-07T20:38:57","date_gmt":"2012-06-08T00:38:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.math.columbia.edu\/~woit\/wordpress\/?p=4751"},"modified":"2012-06-08T08:27:52","modified_gmt":"2012-06-08T12:27:52","slug":"too-much-aint-enough-langlands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.math.columbia.edu\/~woit\/wordpress\/?p=4751","title":{"rendered":"Too Much Ain&#8217;t Enough Langlands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I should be packing for my trip, but couldn&#8217;t resist one last blog posting, since I&#8217;ve recently a run across a lot of interesting Langlands-related material, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Symposium this fall at the Fields Institute, in honor of Ngo&#8217;s Fields Medal winning work, on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fields.utoronto.ca\/programs\/scientific\/fieldsmedalsym\/12-13\/\">Fundamentals of the Langlands Program<\/a>.  They have a <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.fields.utoronto.ca\/symposium\/2012\/04\/11\/introduction-fields-symposium-2012\/\">symposium blog<\/a>, and including a <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.fields.utoronto.ca\/symposium\/2012\/05\/14\/interview-professor-james-arthur\/\">video with Jim Arthur<\/a> who gives a little bit of historical background to the Langlands Program.<\/li>\n<li>This past semester the Fields Institute has had a program on Galois Represesentations, with an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fields.utoronto.ca\/programs\/scientific\/11-12\/galoisrep\/wksp_PDFgrad\/index.html\">instructional workshop<\/a>, lecture series by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fields.utoronto.ca\/programs\/scientific\/11-12\/galoisrep\/CLS\/index.html\">Michael Harris<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fields.utoronto.ca\/programs\/scientific\/11-12\/galoisrep\/DLS\/index.html\">Christophe Breuil<\/a>, and lots more. Some notes are on the instructional workshop page, and lots of audio of the talks are available <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fields.utoronto.ca\/audio\/\">here<\/a> (so you can see what trying to learn math will be like when you go blind).<\/li>\n<li>To hear from the man himself, there&#8217;s something old <a href=\"http:\/\/video.ias.edu\/Automorphic-Forms-langlands\">here<\/a> (notes <a href=\"http:\/\/video.ias.edu\/webfm_send\/816\">here<\/a>), something from last year <a href=\"http:\/\/video.ias.edu\/members\/langlands\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>In recent years Matt Emerton has written some wonderful expository pieces, often on Langlands-related topics, as the answers to questions on MathOverflow.
