This one will be based on &#8220;A laser powerful enough to tear apart the fabric of space&#8221;, able to &#8220;rip a hole in spacetime&#8221;, and it will do this much more cheaply than the LHC ($1.6 billion).<\/p>\n<p>For details, see for instance <a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/science\/science-news\/8857154\/Worlds-most-powerful-laser-to-tear-apart-the-vacuum-of-space.html\">here<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/sciencetech\/article-2055360\/Giant-1bn-laser-strong-tear-fabric-space-built-Britain.html\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/science.slashdot.org\/story\/11\/11\/03\/239204\/eu-scientists-working-on-laser-to-rip-a-hole-in-spacetime\">here<\/a>.
