Hawking told her &#8220;You were my heart throb&#8221;, admitting that Barbarella was what he had in mind.<\/li>\n<li>MIT has put online a <a href=\"http:\/\/mitworld.mit.edu\/video\/870\">video of a lecture<\/a> given in December by Jim Simons.  Simons tells some of the story of his remarkable career and gives some advice about doing math.   The financial news this morning <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/renaissance-tech-brazil-high-frequency-trading-liquidity-2011-2\">reports<\/a> that Simons&#8217;s Renaissance Technologies is now down in Brazil doing high-frequency trading.  The story is illustrated with a photo of Gisele Bundchen super-imposed on what appears to be Simons lecturing on differential K-theory.<\/li>\n<li>Someone has come up with an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.science20.com\/hammock_physicist\/who_todays_einstein_exercise_ranking_scientists-75928\">Einstein Index<\/a> to rank theoretical physicists using a new citation analysis.  According to this index,  Juan Maldacena outranks Steve Weinberg and Ed Witten by a sizable amount.  Further down the list, Sean Carroll and Murray Gell-Mann get the same ranking.<\/li>\n<li>Brian Greene&#8217;s new book on the Multiverse is getting a lot of attention, with mostly laudatory reviews.
