The Templeton Foundation&#8217;s list of funding priorities for 2010 is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.templeton.org\/what_we_fund\/2010_funding_priorities\/\">here<\/a>, with applications opening February 1.  In math and physics the topics they want to support research in are:<\/p>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.templeton.org\/what_we_fund\/2010_funding_priorities\/quantum_physics_and_the_nature_of_reality\/index.html\">Quantum Physics and the Nature of Reality<\/a><\/li>\n<p>and<\/p>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.templeton.org\/what_we_fund\/2010_funding_priorities\/foundational_questions_in_the_mathematical_sciences\/index.html\">Foundational Questions in the Mathematics Sciences<\/a><\/li>\n<p>At least for 2010, they seem to have lost interest in the Multiverse.<\/p>\n<p>Templeton is also supporting a member of the Harvard Math Department in a big way, with a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.templeton.org\/what_we_fund\/core_funding_areas\/science_and_the_big_questions\/life_sciences\/13772.html\">grant<\/a> of $10 million to math professor Martin Nowak to fund a program in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fas.harvard.edu\/~fqeb\/\">Foundational Questions in Evolutionary Biology<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Simons Foundation isn&#8217;t the only one announcing funding opportunities in math and physics.
