Page 19:  "working at Cambridge" should be "working at Manchester"

Page 32:  "28 GeV" should be "28 TeV"

Page 52:   stray apostrophe following "after her death," should be removed

Page 82:  Peter Higgs should not be described as a "Scotsman".  He was born in England, from 1960 on worked in Edinburgh

Page 87:  "scattering electrons off an atom" should be "scattering alpha-particles off an atom"

Page 127-8:  "The Monster group is the largest possible irreducible piece of a finite group"
This needs to be supplemented with something like "that is a sporadic group, i.e. not part of certain well-known infinite sequences of such groups"

Page 142:  The definition of the analyticity condition in terms of commuting with the complex structure should be supplemented to explain that this is a local condition on the derivative, not a global condition on the function itself.

Page 190:  "a temperature proportional to their area" should be "an entropy proportional to their area".
