The Probabilistic Method Section
Overview
This section of undergraduate seminar will follow the book The Probabilistic Method by Alon and Spencer. This book uses probability to prove combinatorics results. Each week students will present on a chapter from the book. Required background is a basic understanding of probability, including random variables, expectation, independence, conditioning, etc.
The section will meet for 2 hours each week on Fridays 9:30 am - 11:30 am NYC time.
