In the talk I will introduce the question of large time behavior of
solutions of the equations of porous medium and fast diffusion type, and then show the main ingredients of the method of entropy dissipation and the related topic of functional inequalities. If time allows I will comment on three examples of interesting connection with Riemannian Geometry.
