Some results on the geometry of moduli spaces of Higgs bundles

Moduli spaces of Higgs bundles admit a wealth of structure that made
them appear in very different contexts and lead to some amazing
conjectures by Hausel and Rodriguez-Villegas about their geometric
properties.

One consequence of these is that the intersection form of some of
these moduli should vanish. We confirm this and as a byproduct get
information on irreducible components of related moduli spaces.  (Part
of this is joint work with S. Bradlow, O. Garcia-Prada and P. Gothen.)
