Partial desingularizations of good moduli spaces of toric Artin stacks -- Dan Edidin, October 15, 2010

In her classic paper, Frances Kirwan gave a method for obtaining partial desingularizations of GIT quotients of smooth projective varieties. A natural question for a stack-minded person to ask is whether Kirwan's procedure has an analogue for good moduli spaces of smooth Artin stacks which do not come from GIT. In this talk we view complete non-simplicial toric varieties as good moduli spaces of toric Artin stacks and show that, in this case, there is a simple combinatorial procedure that replicates Kirwan's construction.

This talk is based on joint work with Yogesh More.
