Examination policies

Mathematics department policy requires students to bring their Columbia ID to each exam. No books, notes will be allowed during exams.

If you have a medical emergency and you are therefore not able to take an exam, you must get a note from your doctor. If you have a family emergency, you must get a note from your dean. Unless you are at death's door, leave me a phone or e-mail message at very latest the day of the exam you have to miss.

If you wish to be excused from an exam for religious reasons, you must tell me well in advance of the exam. I will not accept last minute excuses of this nature. Check the exam schedule now!

Incompletes are only for hospitalization or comparable emergency. They will not be given for academic reasons. If this course is a requirement for this semester it is your responsibility to pass.

Anyone caught cheating faces failure of the course and further academic discipline. Also anyone caught helping another student cheat faces the same disciplinary consequences.
