College Algebra and Analytic Geometry

This is a
precalculus course with emphasis on functions and their graphs. It is intended
for the students wishing to take calculus (or other more advanced math
courses).
We will cover chapters 1-10 leaving out some sections.
Textbook :
Precalculus, Mathematics for Calculus, 5th edition, James Stewart et al.
Syllabus:
algebraic
manipulations
equations (linear,
quadratic, logarithmic, exponential, and others)
functions and
graphs of functions (polynomials, rational, logarithmic, exponential, sin, cos,
others)
logarithms and
exponents
trigonometry
systems of linear
equations
sequences
(arithmetic and geometric)
The homework is
due Monday in class.
The first midterm
will be on Wednesday, Feb 22.
The second midterm
will be on Wednesday, Apr 5.
The final exam
will be on Monday, May 8th.
Grading
The exams count
for 80% of the final grade. The division is: 40% the final and 40% the midterm.
No make up exams will be given.
20% for the weekly
homework. The lowest grade of the homework will be dropped. Late homework will
NOT be accepted.
