Title: Exceptional Lie group families

Abstract:
In algebra, algebraic geometry, and ordinary differential equations, the Weyl group of E8 appears often. In theoretical physics, E8 is ubiquitous. We try to understand its occurrences using the correlated observation of various families. It is useful for instance to distinguish the presence or absence of F4, D5 or D4.
