Time and Place: MW 9:10-10:25 in Math. 203.
Text: James Stewart - Calculus, Early Transcendentals (6th Edition)
Material Covered: Chapters 12, 13 and 14 + Appendix G.
Homework: The homework assignments and due dates will be given in class and can be found on CourseWorks. You must hand in the homework by 10:25 am each Wednesday after class or put in my mailbox the same day before 1pm. Late homework will not be accepted under any circumstances.
Calculators: Calculators of any kind are not required for this course and won’t be allowed for the exams.
Midterm Exams. The midterm exams are on Monday, February 23 and Monday, March 30. Makeups will not be given for the midterm exams. Students can be excused from the midterms only because of serious illness or a family emergency of comparable gravity. To be excused you will need a note from your doctor or dean.
Final Exam: The Final Exam date is scheduled by the university on Wednesday, May 13th from 9am to noon. All students must take the final exam at the time scheduled by the University; no final exams can be given earlier or later.
Grading: The course grade is apportioned as follows: Final exam 40%; each midterm exam 20%; homework 20%.
Help: My office hours are 10:30-11:30 pm on MW. The help rooms 406 Mathematics and 333 Milbank are open with people to answer calculus questions all day long on weekdays.
Method of Study: Your work for every class should have five
components:
1. Read the appropriate section(s) of the book before coming
to class.
2. Come to class.
3. Read the section(s) again after class.
4. Do the homework.
5. Come to office hours or the help room with any remaining
questions.
